Rural clinic

AMECA is currently researching into a suitable location for the construction of a new rural clinic to deliver primary health care together with local community health education.

Many African rural communities have an acute and chronic shortage of medical personnel and medical facilities. Most rural communities have no access to any healthcare within reasonable reach, resulting in needless death and suffering. The ability to recruit and retain medical personnel in rural areas is compromised by:

  • Critical lack of opportunities for training and development for local staff.
  • Absence of skilled management.
  • Absence of local accommodation for medical staff and their families in rural areas.
  • Absence of accessible schools in the area for staff children.
  • Critical lack of medical equipment and drugs.
  • Absence of a competitive salary package for medical staff.
  • Remote locations with inadequate access to tar roads and little or no infrastructure.

AMECA is currently engaged in needs assessment in various rural locations, establishing links with local communities and in developing potential partnerships to secure adequate funding for the running costs of such a facility.
